When a world starts stuttering after installing addons, the first instinct is to blame the newest pack. Sometimes that is right. More often, lag comes from a few settings and habits that add up. Here is what actually makes a difference, roughly in order of impact.
Simulation distance controls how many chunks around you are actively running: mobs moving, crops growing, redstone ticking, and addon scripts doing their work. It is usually the single biggest performance cost on phones.
Set it to 4 chunks on low-end devices. You will barely notice in normal gameplay, but your device has a lot less to calculate every tick.
Render distance only affects how far you can see. Dropping it from 16 to 8–10 chunks helps graphics-heavy devices a lot, especially with texture packs.
Mobs are expensive, and some addons add more of them. Farms with hundreds of animals, piles of dropped items, and mob grinders next to your base all eat performance.
Ten small addons that each run their own scripts cost more than two larger ones that do the same job. When possible, pick packs that combine features. For example, Simple Capitator covers tree felling, vein mining, leaf clearing and crop harvesting in one lightweight pack, instead of four separate ones.
If lag appeared right after installing something, test methodically:
Then check the addon page for an update, or leave it out of that world.
